Introduction

If you are an existing undergraduate student at Swinburne Sarawak, Curtin Malaysia, UTS, or i-CATS UC who currently funds your studies with a PTPTN loan, you might be wondering how FTES affects you.

The good news: Current ongoing students are fully eligible for FTES!

The catch: Double-funding is strictly prohibited. You cannot receive PTPTN disbursements and FTES tuition waivers at the same time. Here is how to seamlessly cancel your PTPTN loan and switch to FTES without incurring penalties.

Key Rule: Apply First, Cancel Second!

⚠️ Critical Warning: DO NOT cancel your PTPTN loan until you have received your official FTES Approval Letter from your university.

Canceling PTPTN prematurely could leave you with unpaid tuition bills if your FTES paperwork encounters processing delays. Always wait for confirmed FTES approval first.

Step-by-Step Transition Roadmap

1.Receive Official FTES Approval:Wait for University Confirmation Letter.

Submit your FTES application through your university portal. Wait until you receive the formal FTES Approval Letter in your student portal.

2.Download PTPTN Loan Termination Form:Borang Pembatalan / Penghentian Pinjaman PTPTN.

Log into the official PTPTN Online Portal (myptptn.ptptn.gov.my) or request the termination form from your university’s financial aid counter.

3.Submit Termination Request:Attach your FTES Approval Letter.

Submit your completed termination form along with a copy of your FTES Approval Letter. This proves to PTPTN that your funding source is officially transitioning to a state scheme.

4.Settle Outstanding PTPTN Balances:Only pay for previously disbursed semesters.

PTPTN will issue a final statement showing the exact principal amount disbursed prior to cancellation. You are only responsible for repaying the amount you actually received; no early termination penalties apply.

5.Update University Financial Office:Submit PTPTN Cancellation Slip.

Provide a copy of your PTPTN Termination Confirmation Slip to your university’s bursary counter to ensure clean account ledgering.

What Happens to the PTPTN Money You Already Spent?

  • Past Semesters: Any money PTPTN disbursed for previous semesters remains a valid loan that you will repay according to your normal PTPTN schedule after graduation.
  • Current/Future Semesters: Once canceled, future PTPTN disbursements stop immediately, and FTES 100% tuition coverage takes over completely.
